Effects of Several Substances on the Uric Acid Determination by the Enzymatic Method
Ra Young-Ak

Abstract
Many reducing substances present in the sample may effected with thease method. Effects of bilirubin, hemoglobin, glucose and ascorbic acid in the enzymatic method of uric acid were evaluated and compared to those uric acid levels.
The results obtained are as follows: 1) Serum bilirubin concentrations of less than 5§·/§£ showed negligible effect on the results of uric acid determined by the enzymatic method. But the concentrations of over 5§·/§£ showed an increased uric acid levers. 2) Serum hemoglobin concentrations of less than 100§·/§£ showed negligible effect on the results of uric acid determined by the enzymatic method. 3) Serum glucose concentrations of less than 500§·/§£ have no effect on the result of uric acid determined by the enzymatic method. 4) Ascorbic acid concentrations showed an increased uric acid level in proportion 0.4§·/§£ to 5§·/§£ of added ascorbic acid. The usual methods are not greatly effected by normal amounts of ascorbic acid, but excessive amounts may lead to high results.
